Police have recovered the body of a newborn with injuries from the banks of the Atrai River in the Colonipara area of Mahadevpur, Naogaon.
Locals found the injured body of a newborn eaten by a fox on the banks of the Atrai River yesterday morning. Later, the police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue for autopsy.
Locals said that on Tuesday morning, they found the body of a newborn wrapped in polythene. The lower part and one hand of the child had been eaten by a fox or some other violent animal. However, the upper part including the face is intact. It is believed that someone killed the newborn and dumped it there to hide his misdeeds.
In this regard, Mahadevpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Hashmat Ali said that upon receiving information, the body of the newborn was recovered and sent to the district morgue for autopsy.
